Simple VPN

This diagram shows two offices connected to each other using a secure VPN over a Public Internet connection. A file server is located in the main office. Files on the file server can be accessed by users in the remote office, since the server is "visible" on their local network, even though the file server is not local. Remote users who are "on the road" and not in either office can access the file server simply by connecting to the Internet and then using a VPN tunnel into the main office.

Multiple Internet connections

This is a diagram of how an office can have more than one connection to the Internet. This is desirable for a variety of reasons:
- Load Balancing:
- Having users on one path and servers on the other keeps user traffic impact away from servers
- VoIP Internet connection separation from data network Internet connection
- Redundancy:
- In the event one connection goes offline, the other connection is still available
- Multiple vendor connections in the event of a vendor outage
- Security:
- A web server on a completely different network from the corporate data network protects the corporate data network from attacks against the web server
- Private Internet network used for Executive and Maintenance access

Web Firewall Management 01

This "Trusted to External" illustration shows how our recommended firewall solution can monitor connections between internal and external systems in real-time. This is an important tool for finding and blocking unwanted connections (such as external attacks, or even internal connections to undesirable destinations) in real-time. The "Bandwidth Meter" illustration displays bandwidth utilization over time, and compares utilization between the various firewall interfaces so that you can best configure QoS (Quality of Service) settings and respond to network and bandwidth scaling changes appropriately.

The "Traffic Monitor" can be customized to display network traffic details in real-time logging format. The display here is configured to display errors and denied/blocked connections, which helps to illustrate the traffic response to the firewall rules. This is important to review when making changes or additions to firewall rules to make sure that your rules are having the intended effects.

The "Service Watch" window displays bandwidth utilization by specific service over time, and compares utilization between the various network traffic services. For example, this illustration shows a comparison between "ping" packets, "PPTP",and "Outgoing UDP" packets among other traffic types. This is very useful in determining if certain network protocols are demanding more bandwidth than others, and can be helpful in determining if you need to prioritize the types of network traffic.
